Dashboards & Visualizations

After copying the folder for an app I created in Splunk 6.1.8 to 6.2.1, why can't I see any of the dashboards?

Hi,

I have created a Splunk App in 6.1.8, but when I copy the folder from 6.1.8 to version 6.2.1, my application doesn't work.
I cannot see any of the dashboards that created in version 6.1.8.
What can be done to run application from version 6.1.8 in Splunk version 6.2.1?

Did you reload Splunk? Merely copying an App will not work, you need to:

  1. Verify the permissions on the filesystem. If Splunk (running as splunk for example) cannot read the directory (owned by root for example), then Splunk won't show the App.
  2. Reload Splunk. This can be done by hitting the debug/refresh endpoint (https://yoursplunk/en-US/debug/refresh) OR by restarting Splunk

Hi sorry, being a newbie I did not know this. Transferred required data from users directory now I can see my dashboards. Sorry about useless question.

No I could not see any of the dashboards!

This is what I am trying to do:
1. created Dashboards from UI
2. created a zip of my app folder
3. transferred zip to other splunk 'etc/app' and extracted
4. Made sure that there is no permission issue to new app folder
5. restarted splunk

Now when I check my app from new Splunk deployment I don't see any dashboard.
Not even names of my dashboards.

If you create a dashboard it will be at first under the users directory not in the app. Splunk will move it into the app directory as soon as you share your dashboard in this app.
