Is it necessary to do training before giving certification exam or can I directly sit for exam?
It used to be that you could skip training and sit the test for at least the first 3 based on years of experience ( user
, power
, admin
) and jump straight to the test, but who knows what they will allow now. Email and ask: Education_AMER@Splunk.com. As far as user
, it only requires Fundamentals I
which is a free E-Learning so you can just hit the play
button and not watch it to get credit for taking the course. There are labs but they are neither checked nor graded.
@ashu_ipec which exam are you planning to write.
I am new to splunk, so looking for certified core user exam. I have completed the Fundamental 1.
I have one query, for giving core user exam do I need to take paid training for fundamental 1? Or can take exam directly?
Fundamental 1 elearning is free for everyone. Which means you can go ahead and take the core certification exam.
If the company you work for is a partner with Splunk and has enrolled for any Education subscription, then you should check which courses are free for you. You should always register for one course at a time.

All the best with your Certification journey!
hi @ashu_ipec,
for some certification, it's possible to have exam without a training, but only the first ones, with the following trainings (e.g. Architect or Consultant) Splunk wants that you follow courses (it's a business!).
Anyway, you can find informations at https://www.splunk.com/pdfs/training/Splunk-Certification-Candidate-Handbook.pdf
Ciao.
