Downloaded and installed the Solaris 8 packagewith:
% pkgadd -d splunkforwarder-4.2.3-105575-solaris-8-sparc.pkg
When trying to start it fails with:

Here is the machine:
% uname -a

% file /opt/splunkforwarder/bin/splunk
/opt/splunkforwarder/bin/splunk: ELF 64-bit MSB executable SPARCV9 Version 1, dynamically linked, stripped
And the package info:

Went ahead and opened a support ticket on this. Turns out that Solaris 8 support has been dropped and the download page hadn't been updated.
Reason #304 to take that old Ultra out back and shoot it 😉
