There are many things that could be wrong. Only the log knows which one it is. What does it say?

For instance, maybe the problem is that the JDBC driver won't load, because Microsoft's package has two files in it with similar names and it's easy to pick the wrong one. That will show that java launches okay but can't load the driver.

Or maybe the problem is that you've installed Java 8 but some environment variable is pointing at Java 5 and we can't run at all.

Or maybe the problem is that you've got an aggressive security client installed which is killing the process as soon as it opens a network connection.

Also,

All the Ports used are open and an SQL Login is used.
