I recently updated my license so am no longer running over my license limit. How do I clear out my past violation history?

License violations cannot be removed, only invalidated by either applying a reset key or larger license. The nagware banner will go away on its own after 2 weeks of license compliance

The stupid part is, even if you set a quota for the maximum data to index per day, the index will still index past it instead of honoring the quota. Maybe this should be fixed...

if you don't care about the data, you can run a clean all and essentially start from scratch.

A feature should be added to disable that.. It generates unnecessary calls to the help desk

They should learn from Atlassian and JIRA licensing. Atlassian used to hold data hostage too, but realized it was better to allow users to fully use the product they bought to self host and not hold them hostage.

Price should cover service contract, not the product after the first purchase. Regardless of when license for support expires.

Don't hold us hostage!

Agree completely. Can anyone @Splunk comment on this? Maybe relegate it to only show to the splunk admins rather than the normal users.

I ran into this myself after turning off the splunkd server for a week or two when I rebuilt the system. They should note this somewhere in the documentation. I run the free version, and the only data source is a small home router's syslog events from the firewall, so I was surprised that I somehow hit 500MB+ in a single day. I thought that meant someone was really trying to abuse my firewall ruleset...
