Search peer has the following message: Failed to contact master: reason='Unable to connect to remote peer: https://:8089 rc=2' first failure time= ()

This may appear in the splunk service log, found by search index="_internal" sourcetype=splunkd, and it is an indicator that the communication between the IDX and SH has been disconnected. If the problem persists, validate connectivity between the given hosts and ports with telnet.
