What type of password encryption does DB Connect use to secure the database password?

Just wondering if you guys have an idea on what type of password encryption does Splunk DB connect app used to secured the database password.

If I remember correct AES is being used, using this cipher: $SPLUNK_HOME$/etc/auth/splunk.secret

As soon as I find a reference I will give you an update.
