I use this systemd script on my SLES 12 SP3 installation. [Unit] Description=Splunk Enterprise After=network.target Wants=network.target [Service] Type=forking RemainAfterExit=False User=<Enter_your_user_here> Group=<Enter_your_group_here> LimitNOFILE=65536 ExecStart=/opt/splunk/bin/splunk start --accept-license --answer-yes --no-prompt ExecStop=/opt/splunk/bin/splunk stop ExecReload=/opt/splunk/bin/splunk restart PIDFile=/opt/splunk/var/run/splunk/splunkd.pid TimeoutSec=600 TasksMax=infinity [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target Alias=splunk.service Hopes this helps.
