Splunk Add-on for ServiceNow setup - getting error "Splunkd daemon is not responding"

I have done all the per-requisite configuration and now getting below error while doing setup Add-On for ServiceNow.

Encountered the following error while trying to update: Splunkd daemon is not responding: (u"Error connecting to /servicesNS/nobody/Splunk_TA_snow/apps/local/Splunk_TA_snow/setup: ('The read operation timed out',)",)

Provided servicenow url and login details and after save button i am getting error.
installed on windows 8 and downloaded - splunk-7.1.2-a0c72a66db66-x86-release

Please help me as this is critical for POC.

I don't believe Splunk Enterprise is supported on Windows 8 per http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/7.1.2/Installation/Systemrequirements#Windows_operating_...

It looks like compatibility with Windows 8.1 is deprecated but still supported on a trial or free installation. Maybe you could try that?
