Hi - I really look forward to start using Splunk.

Got splunk-4.1.6-89596-SunOS-sparc.tar.Z and tried to install it on Solaris 10.

Unfortunately the zip does not contain any .pkg files.

Thanks a lot!

vbehar, for Solaris Sparc there are 2 files available depending on your preference. If you prefer pkg format you'll need splunk-4.1.6-89596-solaris-8-sparc.pkg.Z instead. Some people prefer the tarball type install, so both are provided.

On the libpcre.so.0 issue, looks to be an env issue on the server. libpcre.so.0 should be included in $SPLUNK_HOME/lib. Is your $SPLUNK_HOME set in either your .profile or $SPLUNK/home/etc/splunk-launch.

I get:

root@elmer:splunk# ./bin/splunk ld.so.1: btool: fatal: libpcre.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory Killed WARNING: couldn't find "mgmtHostPort" setting in web bundle! ld.so.1: btool: fatal: libpcre.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory Killed couldn't run "/tmp/splunk/bin/python": No such file or directory

I was able to install it on Solaris 10, but didn't use the pkg file..just unzip and stick the directory where you want it.
