Scheduled summary searches not running while summary backfill script is running

It appears that my regularly scheduled summary searches do not run while I'm running the backfill_summary_index script. Is this correct? If so, how do I get around this?

Yeah, you can look in the script to see this. There's app-level per-search locking to avoid problems where the search is run in an overlapping manner where artifacts might be fighting.

Options:

  1. backfill on another node
  2. think through whether this operation would be safe for your particular environment, and hack up the script
  3. wait for a better answer
