While reviewing the various Splunk logs for an issue with SplunkWeb performance in 4.1.x, I noticed the following error several times in the $SPLUNK_HOME/var/log/splunk/web_service.log below. What does this error mean and what should I investigate?
2010-10-20 08:07:43,156 ERROR [4cbf0507ddccd0990] utility:59 - name=javascript, class=Splunk.Error, lineNumber=0, message=uncaught exception: [Exception... Even though this is flagged as an ERROR, this is almost always a benign message.
It often occurs when users switch between pages and during that transition it can often leave the runtime in an awkward state that can trigger this error.
This can be ignored and in the future the message type will be reduced from an ERROR status so as not to cause undue concern.
