All Apps and Add-ons

Is there an add on similar to Splunk Synthetic App for local tool monitoring?

Hey folks!

I have a tool name Allegro, there we have to monitor the files manually? While trying to bring that a use case for splunk, i am stuck at a point. The logs are being monitored from the tool itself, from its UI.
I was trying to work in for Splunk-Synthetic-App, but realize it works only for web Application.

Do we have any similar tool that works for Locally hosted, or any suggestion, how to proceed further?

PS: The tool does not generate any log file neither physical table. So left only with Monitoring from UI.

Hi @sarvesh_11,

The answer to your question is pretty easy, if the application has any API that you can use to access it, then you will be able to run a script to query this API and fetch the data; If the application doesn't have an API and the only way to access it is via GUI then you can either use an automated bot to get you the clicks for the extractions or you'll have to do it yourself.

I checked splunkbase and there is no apps for getting data from Allegro, so it's either scripting via API or manual 😄

Let me know if you need guidance on documentation for a scripted input for Splunk.

Cheers,
David

@DavidHourani
Thanks for your reply!
To use a bot or an RPA tool was our 1st thought, but that will go under lot of approvals, and will take time.
So was figuring out, do we have any splunk-add on or something for these types of use case.

Well your reply sense, you are acquainted about allegro, so that drops me to a conclusion to go for bot 🙂

Thanks Man!

you're welcome man! And if you do something that can be re-used by the community don't hesitate to post it on Splunkbase, support for new data sources is always welcome 😉

when you say monitor from UI, does it mean looking into some kind of javascript or json payload within the web-page?

@koshyk No, the UI of the tool is just like MS-Excel, just a table. But i can not export it.
