I am using the same exact user with the same exact host, db name, username, password, and port that I am using from a python script, yet when I plug these into splunk dbconnect I am getting an access denied issue. I am not really sure why this is occurring, is there anything else I can look at to investigate why this might be happening?
Turns out mysql can set permissions per user per IP range, I never knew this, but this ended up being the issue
Hey @briancronrath I converted your comment to an answer.
You should accept your own answer so other people can easily find a solution if they are looking at similar issues in the future.
All the best!
Hi! Did you already try to check the Splunk Conf?
https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/2686/#/details
Do you deploy the properly java db connector?
Take a look and let me know if i can helpyou.
Also try to telnet to the DB host from splunk terminal at port of listening (mostly 1433)
Yeah Java should be deployed fine, I should mention that I can connect to several other DBs fine from dbconnect, including redshift, mysql, and ms sql databases. But for some reason this particular mysql db is giving me issues.
