get a value from an external link

hi,
i have a splunk view with a text box, and an external application with some values.
my doubt is like,
is it possible to create a link from the external application to splunk and populate a text box with the id passed through the external application? how to do it?
please help.

The URLLoader module will use the parameter name that was specified in the url. Not sure what you're unsure about. Sideview utils has great examples on how to use the module.

Do i have to care about the variable name which i am passing .. suppose my textbox name is abcd, so the value passed using some variables alo should be abcdi.e. i am using PHP script for this,so PHP variabe should be abcd?
please help

Yes, I know - you can use the URLLoader module precisely for that. That is, you click on a link in the external application, this link takes you to a view in Splunk which has prepopulated field values based on the parameters submitted in the URL.

Sorry Ayn, i couldn't make it.
value passing from view to view , value passing from splunk to other links through HTML module ,fine i got answers for all those through sideview utils.
My query is to read a value from external application to splunk either host name or username or userid .
