Dashboards & Visualizations

How come I'm not able to share dashboards despite having power user role?

I have the power user role. I first cloned a dashboard and edited it. I then tried sharing the edited dashboard but I can't. It's "sharing settings" remain at private, and I don't have access to the "Edit Permissions" item from the Actions drop-down menu. I also tried creating a new dashboard in a different app but I can't share that either.

Wondering what the issue might be? Do I need to go to a specific app to be able to share dashboards?

@mdave11 check to see if your role has write permissions to the app which you are trying to share dashboard. Only roles with write permissions on the app will have special capabilities like edit permissions, move, delete etc.

Thanks for the reply @Rob2520. That makes sense. Do you know if there is an easy way to see which apps you have write permissions to?

Below link should provide you some level of information. Coming back to the issue you are having, talk to your admin and ask him to grant write permission to the app you are working on if possible. If not, he should be able to create a new app and grant you write permissions on it.

If you have access try this REST url | rest /services/authentication/users splunk_server=local
