Getting Data In

Splunk for Job Monitoring.

Hello Experts!!!

I am new to Splunk and just started learning Splunk from couple of days.

We are using an in-house application in our organization for data ingestion.

Whenever any process failed, we have to look into the log files to identify error. Also, it is very complex to give answers to following question.
1. Duration of job execution.
2. Notification if job is running too long.
3. Try to find step where job is failed etc.

Basically, all sort of questions production support team must deal with.

We are exploring tools which can be used to monitor Jobs of our in-house application.

While exploring Splunk, I went through "Search Tutorial" , and found out that, using Search option, I can do analysis of log files.

Also, I found out that, on Splunkbase, we have 1000+ different apps available.

But I am not sure if "Splunk Search and Reporting" application is useful to solve our problem.

I am looking for your comments on following two questions.
1. Can we use Splunk as a production support monitoring tool? If yes, please guide me to that topic/tutorial in splunk.
2. If no, Is there is any other application available in Splunkbase, which can be used for this purpose?

I am really sorry if I had made any mistake in "Ask Question" format. Using this forum first time.

looking for your comments.

Thanks in Advance !!!!
