I have Splunk indexer cluster with 1 master, 2 indexers & 2 search heads setup on AWS EC2 instances. I have installed Splunk Disk Monitoring app to monitor Disk space for each instance. I have created inputs.conf file in local directory inside this app & updated smartmon_results.sh & smartmon_short_test.sh scritps dissabled flag to 0 so that it will be enabled. I don't see any disk that it is still monitoring. I am missing something here?
Why do not you monitor with DMC?
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/7.1.1/DMC/DMCoverview
Check your inputs, by searching for index=_internal source=*splunkd.log ExecProcessor
and look for warnings, errors or anything related to your scripts above.
You could also go to the CLI and do a splunk show inputstatus
and look for those scripts there.
Hope that helps - if it does I'd be happy if you would upvote/accept this answer, so others could profit from it. 🙂
PS: Does running a smart scan on a most likely virtual storage any sense? Is SMART even available for such drives?
