It would be interesting (nice?) if splunk added ability to "dump stats" easily every so often (for instance, all mbeans on the system). Then its graphs could be used to track system metrics more easily.
Splunk for JMX does exactly this.
Futhermore , I have also started a new project on Github called SplunkJavaAgent for collecting deeper profiling metrics(method timings, call traces etc..) from your JVM based apps. This may be of interest to you.It is still in alpha development but functional.
Or you could just use the AppDynamics/Splunk integration 🙂
Stay tuned for the announcement.
Appman.
The Splunk AppDynamics app requires that you already have AppDynamics. OP is request a competitor.
It was released last Friday: http://splunk-base.splunk.com/apps/67849/appdynamics
Any ideas when the Splunk + AppDynamics integration will be released? (Just adding to the chorus :~)
