Not able to login to splunk through website

Hi

I am new to splunk and here to learn splunk, I have installed splunk on an ec-2 instance but I am not able to login to public dns splunk through port 8000.

Things I have tried so far

Created security group and added custom tcp port to 8000 and an ssh port.
installed splunk through ssh using putty and installed splunk enterprise.

I know i am stuck in somewhere basic and I could really use some help here.

same thing happened for me 3 month ago
This is my solution: I reinstalled Splunk again and it worked fine.
I restarted the machine and it works with no issue.
Please try the same and it must work

which version of linux are you using on ec-2 ?

Do you have Splunk started?
If you get to http://localhost:8000 and get the front page of Splunk Logins?

yes I have tried to access the webpage using publicip:8000 but the login webpage does not load.

Ok so if the webserver is not loading, something may have gone wrong on start up. Can you check splunkd.log for errors related to the webserver?
