Hi All,
I m new to Splunk, I would like to install Splunk enterprise on Windows 2012 R2 server via RDC Manager , I can able to connect to respective server via RDC but internet connection on that server is limited due to security. Hence i can't download splunk on server using browser.
I m looking for alternative ways to install splunk on server 2012.
Thanks in advance for your support.
Download Splunk to your own desktop, then copy it however you can and run it?
For instance, if you can launch a remote desktop connection to the server, if you look in settings you can map your LOCAL disk drive to a mapped drive on the server, automatically, when the RDC launches. If you do that, you can then, from the SERVER, browse locations on your LOCAL hard drive and just copy the file to the server.
Or if you have the ability to just browse the server's C: drive, well, download it locally to your desktop and copy it over that way.
Or, as a last resort if it's a VM, you could "burn" the splunk installer to a virtual CD (e.g. a .iso file), copy it to a data store accessible to the host the guest is running on, have the guest mount that as a CD drive, then launch it from there. I've done that, it's tedious, but it works when it's all you've got.
Point is, it's just an installation/setup file. Download it, schlep it over to the server however, then run it there.
Happy Splunking!
