Do you need to purchase a new license when upgrading from 6.5.3 to 7.0.1

Hi,

I can't find the specific answer to my question online. I assume I do not need a new license as my current license was accepted by a newly installed splunk 7.0.1. Therefore I assume that licenses work on any new Splunk version as they are released.

Before i put this in production i just wanted clarification on how Splunk licensing operates as new versions are released.

Cheers

Your license should work on any version of Splunk you're using. The license determines how much data you can index per day, not the version/number of users/number of searches/etc.
