Is a Heavy Forwarder architecture supported?

_smp_
Builder

Congrats on the new release! I have an AWS HF instance forwarding to on-premise indexers. Is this model supported? I didn't see mention of this model being explicitly supported or not supported and since the product was new, I wondered if this was a documentation oversight.

Thanks!

The requirement is to have HEC on a Splunk instance even if it is a HWF and as mentioned, as long as SSL cert is valid then Kinesis firehose can direct to that HWF.

Note that to fully use indexer acknowledgements, you might need to turn it on in outputs.conf to ensure end-to-end data delivery with data indexed and replicated in the on-prem indexers.,

This is not a "supported" architecture, in the sense that it has not been tested as part of our release test pipeline with AWS. However, if you have an SSL cert, signed by a valid cert authority, on the heavy forwarder, then in theory there is nothing to prevent this from working.
