How do I open the Splunk Enterprise on a Windows 64-bit machine after download?

I am attempting to complete the lab assignment for Splunk Fundementals 1. I have download the 64-bit version on my Windows Computer. I then searched for the application to open and I receive localhost:8000 and and error saying this is non secure and am unable to continue. I verified that my computer is a 64 bit machine.

Let's cover the basics first: how did you start it? Did you use the command line or the Services control panel?

For example, in a command prompt, go to C:\Program Files\Splunk\bin and type: splunk start

Are you running it as the same user you installed it as?

In the browser, are you using the host name or the IP address?

Did you install Splunk after downloading it? If your running HTTPS and your certs are bad, you can always just click Advanced and select continue in the browser

me too got same problem, I tried to install by clicking free splunk, but same page is redirected, pop up I got regarding secure configuration

Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is enabled
Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is currently enabled on your server. This configures a number of security settings that define how users browse Internet and intranet Web sites. The configuration also reduces the exposure of your server to Web sites that might pose a security risk. For a complete list of the security settings in this configuration, see Effects of Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.
This enhanced level of security can prevent Web sites from displaying correctly in Internet Explorer and restrict access to network resources, such as files on Universal Naming Convention (UNC) shares. If you want to browse a Web site that requires Internet Explorer functionality that has been disabled, you can add the Web site to the inclusion lists in the Local intranet or Trusted sites zones. For more information, see Managing Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.

like this I got, secure connection not able to download or login

Open up your Services MMC and verify the Splunk process is running

You should also try using a different browser
