How do you set the colour of a Single Value showing text?

My Single Value is showing text, not a number, so setting a colour range doesn't work, it always stays dark grey.

I've found answers to this that use classField, but Splunk tells me that's deprecated.

Is there another way to do this?

We had the same problem. The classField option worked until we installed 6.5.2. Even though it's deprecated, we expect it to work correctly until removed.
Our workaround is to turn off the useColors option. Seems counter-intuitive, but it worked.

<option name="useColors">0</option>

Ah, that's stopped it colouring the whole block, but now the text has turned dark grey.

That didn't happen to us. Are you using <option name="colorBy">value</option> and <option name="colorMode">block</option>?

Yep. What colour is your text and how do you set it?

Our text is white, which I understand is the default color.
