In a dashboard, is it possible to restrict using some words or commands in a text box?

Hi All,

I have dashboard with a textbox where users are allowed to type database queries. I want to restrict user only to type select commands is it possible to do so?

Would using a dropdown or multi-select input on the dashboard work? That way you can specify what options your users can select.

Are you using Splunk's db connect to run these queries?

Dropdown and multi-select may not help much as the queries are not pre-defined .

Ah I had assumed you knew which queries you had wanted them to use. you only want the commands to be restricted not the whole query?

Could you get clever with having the SQL commands in a dropdown and the rest of the query in the search box?
