Splunk DB Connect: How to resolve "Failed to initialize pool: Login failed for user" errors while connecting to database?

HI,

I have Splunk DB Connect install on a Splunk heavy forwarder. I am having trouble connecting to the database. The person who setup the DB has confirmed that the username and password are correct. I've used both the MS generic drive and the jDTS drive.

Any tips or ideas of what to look at would be very helpful.

I'm getting the following error:

Is MCEPO a local service account or is it AD/LDAP?

Have you tried connecting with a database browser like Toad or DBVisualizer? I usually test that way before I configure Splunk, since it's generally easier to troubleshoot connection problems using a purpose-built tool.

It seems there's a LOGIN FAILED issue here.

Are Username and password correct?

i see you are using dbconnect 2, did not notice earlier as i was browsing over phone..were you able to connect to this database using any of the thin client like sql developer/toad?, if yes then you may want to check if the right jars copied , connection details are setup correctly
