Yep. I also installing all the new Windows releases on Windows 7, and though not explicitly stated in the version list, they will install and work without any issues or warnings. I do think Splunk may refuse to provide official support on those installations though.

No, there isn't. The system requirements and download page itself confirm this.

Ok, thanks. You've confirmed what I believed to be the answer. Although I run Win-64 Splunk on other systems, in this instance it needed to be 32-bit Linux. Oh well...

As @ChrisG said and it's interesting to see that only for Windows the 32-bit version is available.
