Does this module generate reports for "All Time" Range instead of the time picked thru "Time Range Picket". Irrespective of what time I pick and generate the report, Export generates the data for all time range (looks like it is breaking it down weekly). My search query has "STATS ..... BY employee". I had to view the groupings in the excel to come to the conclusion that it might be weekly and the last grouping is the sum for all time range.
Is there any documentation or user manual available on how this exportexcel module work
UPDATE :
After digging thru the audit logs, here is what I find. As you can see apiStartTime and apiEndTime is going with 'MIN_TIME' for EXPORT compared to regular search query.
Search Query Audit Logger :
search='search .......', autojoin='1', buckets=300, ttl=600, max_count=10000, maxtime=8640000, enable_lookups='1', extra_fields='*', apiStartTime='Mon Mar 26 15:00:00 2012', apiEndTime='Mon Apr 02 15:42:41 2012', savedsearch_name=""][n/a]
Search Query Audit Logger after EXPORT button is pressed :
search='search.....| head 10000 | export', autojoin='0', buckets=0, ttl=60, max_count=500000, maxtime=8640000, enable_lookups='1', extra_fields='', apiStartTime='MIN_TIME', apiEndTime='MIN_TIME', savedsearch_name=""][n/a]
Probably the same issue as here: http://splunk-base.splunk.com/answers/41847/too-many-results-returned
I am working on an updated version that is almost ready, pending some final tests.
