what is the reason to use redis instead of the built-in kv-store?

I would love to try/use the app bu i am reluctant to install redis. Is there a chance that you would use kv-store in a future release and/or what is the reason or tradeoff for using redis?

Hello.
Sorry, but we don't plan to use kvstore (mongodb on Splunk).
We chose Redis for it's performance on read operations http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5252577/how-much-faster-is-redis-than-mongodb and http://redis.io/topics/benchmarks

Speed speed and more speed?

The Kv store works well, is easy to use and is reliable as hell but does have some limitations when you start using stupidly large tables and/or high write requirements.

Redis also has its limitations but also has specific performance benefits over mongodb.

I'm about to try integrating redis into a solution where mongodb didn't quite fit.
