One of the Splunk users today said to me "Wouldn't it be great if you could get a widget for your desktop that displayed Splunk information?"
I can certainly see that this would be handy, where users can subscribe to particular gauges and charts that they want to be able to readily see without even logging onto Splunk.
Is this possible, and has anyone already done anything like this with Splunk?
Cheers,

I know nothing about how to create desktop widgets, but all it needs to do is be able to display an iFrame which must be fairly basic functionality. Then it can just load the Splunk view for display, either without authenticating, or using SSO. See http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/4.3/Developer/3rdParty

I don't know about desktop widgets specifically, but there is a Splunk Java SDK which could probably be used to accomplish something like this. Info is here: http://dev.splunk.com/view/java-sdk/SP-CAAAECN
