Hi, I am using Splunk 6.4.0 and i am not able to see REST, amqp, kafka modular inputs when i am clicking setting>data inputs
Has it changed in the new version of Splunk? Can anybody let me know how to view it on Splunkweb GUI?

Got the issue for my case.

If you have REST + DBX on your machine you might see this..

See below answer.

https://answers.splunk.com/answers/111023/unable-to-initialize-modular-input-rest-defined-inside-the...

*here is a known bug with Splunk 6 that is caused by the DB Connect App.
If you have this app installed , it causes all other Modular Inputs to not show up on the Manager->Data Inputs page
Although the Modular Inputs are installed and working fine and can still be navigated to manually *

That worked! 🙂

This could be an issue with the fact that when you upgraded to splunk 6.4 you still had the dbx app which is not supported in 6.4. In the screenshots I see that items stop being listed after the dbx "Database Inputs" is listed. You should uninstall this old version of dbx and if you still need Database Inputs please migrate to DB Connect 2.

I am facing the same issue. I need o configure to get the data from REST api's to splunk. One of the solution to do so is to configure rest api at the place shown in screenshot but I could not find REST there.

can anyone let me know if there is other solution to fulfill my requirement or is there solution to bring REST at the location in screenshot!

Hi Ishaan, Did you get a solution to this, I have the same problem with Qualys TA plugin, Not able to see the modular inputs on the forwarder. My view is the same like yours above.
Although on search head i can see the screenshot that @splunkdevabhi has mentioned.
Any clues regarding the same?

I am attempting to use the IPFIX TA on a heavy forwarder and I am also not able to see the modular inputs. Did you ever figure this out?

Try doing it on the indexer, that ways it would work. Still not able to find out why its not there on the forwarder.

I found out that an old DBX 1.x version was causing a conflict on the heavy forwarder that I was attempting to install a modular input on. Even though the DBX app was disabled it was still problematic until I removed it from the directory. After it was removed and I restarted Splunk I was able to see several many methods that were not visible before.

This other splunk answers topic lead me to this solution:

This looks like the issue I mentioned earlier you have DBX 1.x and as it is not supported on 6.4 it stops showing modular inputs in the browser once it hits the Database Inputs module uninstall dbx 1.x and it should work.

I downvoted this post because this does not address the issue.

I downvoted this post because the answer is not relevant to the question for "modular inputs" and not regular inputs.

All the inputs can be seen by going into Settings > Data inputs

Also in latest version of Splunk (6.4.1), one can see all the Data inputs at Settings > Data inputs as mentioned by splunkdevabhi

The modular inputs shall be accessible using the URI location :
http://localhost:8000/en-US/manager/launcher/datainputstats

I am currenty using Splunk 6.4.0 and here is the screenshot for the same.alt text
