How to display a chart on click of a single component?

Hi,

I am using a single component to repressent a piece of data in my dashboard. On clicking of the single component I need to show up a chart in the same dashboard. Initially this chart should be hidden. Can you please tell me how this can be done? I am OK to go with some other component as well for displaying the data. But my main aim is I need to show up the chart on click of some component. Please someone help me out in this requirement.

Actually, I am displaying the total number of errors occured in a particular server over a period of time using the component of a dashboard. Right now, my requirement is on click of this single component I need to show a detailed bar chart which displays the types of errors which happened in that server for that particular period of time. I have both the queries in place but I need to know like how to display the bar chart on clicking a single component.

Can you add more detail around what kind of 'component' you're talking about? a link, a table row, a bar in a FlashChart, etc...

You'll need to dig into advanced XML for creating the type of page that you want. There is an awesome app on splunkbase called Splunk UI examples app for 4.1+ that shows you how to do all kinds of things like this.

Also I'm suspecting that nick has a thing or two to say about using Sideview Utils for simpler ways of dealing with advanced XML, I'll leave it to him to tell you more about it - suffice to say it provides nice alternatives/additions to the standard Splunk modules.
