Hello.
Im part of ThomsonReuters and we have many boxes running licensed splunk.
on a particular box, w2k3 x64 SP2, dual core AMD opteron 8218 16gb RAM, not virtualized, we are having this errors in the logs:
09-22-2011 14:35:27.899 ERROR ExecProcessor - message from "python D:\Splunk\bin\scripts\splunk-wmi.py" SQLitePersistentStorageImpl - Error opening database unable to open database file
09-22-2011 14:35:27.899 ERROR ExecProcessor - message from "python D:\Splunk\bin\scripts\splunk-wmi.py" WMI - Unable to open WMI checkpoint storage: Error opening database unable to open database file

The folder has the correct permissions, the service too, the user that runs the service is in the admin group, so we have ran out of ideas. I have searched the internet and saw this is almost a common error.

Is there any KB or recommendation for the issue?
Thanks in advance.

First determine if the SQLite DB files are available on the file system. They should be kept in: $splunk_home\var\lib\splunk\persistentstorage

If they happen to be available, download the 'SQLite Database Browser' application @ sourceforge.net and try opening the files to determine if they are corrupt or invalid.
