Bogus reports showing up in newly created application

I just created a new application. I've added 3 reports to it.

If I pull up the list of reports for "This App's", I see my 3 reports, but I also see another dozen or so reports that I did not create. The names are:

Histogram of delay in seconds
Mail delivery time
Message size by relay
Number of "from" messages
Number of "to" messages
Number of reject events by relay
Sendmail transactions
Top recipients
Top recipients - pie chart
Top recipients by mailer
Top recipients by mailer - area chart

They are showing up in the savedsearches.conf for my application (even though it's freshly created).

1) did the template create these?

2) is the only way to get rid of them to edit savedsearches.conf and restart? There is no "Delete" on these reports in the GUI, even if I log in as admin.

should have done my own homework.

1) the sample_app template creates these in default/savedsearches.conf.

2) can edit them out of default/savedsearches.conf, but do not need restart. Just need to hit the /debug/refresh URL.
