Hi everyone : )

I'm trying to create an app in splunk, without use the framework, I would like create some dashboard and an overview page called "home".
I would like from the nav menu bar click on " home " and see the overview, next click on dashboard and select to dashboard.
I have already done the part relatives at the dashboard, but I'm not sure how create the home.html, without use the framework, and how get there using the nav bar.

Thank you,
Federica

Hi @Federica_92,
Have you tried building an app from the Apps manager page? Try clicking the little wheel or gear icon next to "Apps" on the home page (I'm not sure which version of the product you have, but you might see this at top left of your home screen). This will take you to the apps manager, where you can click "create app" and go from there. Maybe this will be a simpler approach?

Here is some documentation on using this app builder:

Let me know if this does not help!

One more idea that might help as a source code example for you: there is a "Dashboard Examples" app available for download here:

I see. I'd suggest taking a look at the HTML file in the "Dashboard Examples" app. If you like, you can then reuse or modify that HTML for your app.

Hi @Federica_92,
I'm a technical writer here at Splunk and I wanted to help with your question. Have you checked out the developer documentation on Splunk SDKs? I'm not sure if you would like to work with an SDK, or what your language of choice is, but here is a link to the SDK overview:
http://dev.splunk.com/sdks

Let me know if this does not answer your question. I might have some other resources to recommend.

All best,
@frobinson_splunk

There is also the option to create an app from the home page, depending on what version of the product you're using (I'm not sure). You could try clicking the little wheel or gear icon next to "Apps" at top left of the home page, which takes you to the apps manager. There's a "create app" button on this page, where you can begin setting up an app.

Here is some info from our documentation on building apps this way:
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/latest/AdvancedDev/GettingStarted

I hope this helps! Please feel free to let me know if you have other questions or thoughts about this.

Best,

Hi, thank you.
I had a look before, and I used them before for another project, but I'm currently looking for something really different:
I have just needed to create a page : html/javascript/whatever that is being displayed clicking on the nav bar.
This page should contain a simple dashboard, but has not to be in the dashboard list, in the dashboard page.
Do you have any ideas?

Thank you a mil again!
