Hi,
I am trying to use D3.js files to use with Splunk. I saw that there are a few examples and tutorial on the music dashboard, but I noticed that they are using the "sankey-helper.js" file, which seems like the bridge between the sankey.js file with Splunk.
How do I start on writing a file similar to sankey-helper.js file that can be used with another diagram? (such as the voronoi arc map, or treemap, etc.)
If you are trying to make a chart interactive you can use jquery to bind objects to event listeners such as click. I've done that for a few charts.
I'm trying to use other visualizations that are not in Splunk. Thank you for your reply.
I would recommend looking at the simple_xml_examples app by Splunk i demonstrates how to incorporate other visualization into Splunk.
Grab the Dashboard Examples App from https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/1603/ for more extensive examples, including custom D3 diagrams.
@mseto if you're not happy with the answer you could clarify what you're looking for to get a better one.
I'm looking for a guide to write something like the sankey-helper.js file that will enable me to use other D3 diagrams. I feel that the examples alone are not enough because they do not tell us where each components come from, making it hard to determine what goes into the helper file that is needed so that the Splunk app can display the D3 diagrams.

Have you tried the official D3 page?
Hi Martin, I am getting alot of answers to questions I never asked my only question was on best practices for copying apps / dashboards between environments.. Please don't reply to any other threads. Not me 😉
