How do i get the url to show the fqdn of the server where the splunk webinterface is available at?
curently it says
The Splunk web interface is at https://servername:8000
i would like it to say
The Splunk web interface is at https://servername.domain.com:8000
I have tried to change the server name config in the manager (i then have to reset my distributed search settings). But that didnt change the naming that shows after restarting the spunkd service
Any ideas?
I assume you are referring to the text displayed during Splunk startup, as in this:
Splunk> Finding your faults, just like mom.
Checking prerequisites...
Checking http port [8000]: open
Checking mgmt port [8088]: open
Checking configuration... Done.
Checking index directory...
Validated databases: _audit _blocksignature _internal _thefishbucket history main summary
Done
Success
Checking conf files for typos...
All preliminary checks passed.
Starting splunk server daemon (splunkd)...
Done.
Starting splunkweb... Done.

The Splunk web interface is at http://foo.bar.net:8000
This does not appear to be configurable, and (at least on Linux) is based on the value returned by the hostname
command.
