Splunk Search

how can i reuse my extraction

I expect this is easy and I missed something obvious. I am new to this tool.

I created a field extraction from the search pages, and it worked great, I used it to display a chart showing just what I wanted.

However when I returned to search later, on the same data, I can no longer see the fields created by the extraction in the fields sidebar. the extractions are saved, and I can see them on the config page /manager/search/data/props/extractions. I don't know how to reuse them on the search page again.

Hi jonnycundall,

check whether you're in the same app context or not, meaning are you in the search app or the launcher app or another app.
By default field extraction are only valid in the app they were created. You can change this on the same page /manager/search/data/props/extractions under sharing, set it to global and your extracted field is available in all apps.

Hope this helps ...

cheers, MuS
