X Axis Ticks and Labels missing in Dashboard PDF Export

Hi,

I have a column chart setup in a dashboard that looks just fine, yet when I try to export it, the resulting PDF is missing the x axis labels and tick marks. It should be noted that all the other charts export just fine.

I've attempting to go in and modify the xml, adding the following lines lines to the chart:

      <option name="charting.axisLabelsX.majorLabelVisibility">show</option>
        <option name="charting.axisLabelsX.majorTickVisibility">show</option>

Yet when I export the report, all of the X axis labels are still missing.

How can I get my axis labels to export properly?

I also have the same issue. I attached a sample of our chart. It should have dates, but nothing displays. Do you know if what to check on or what to configure to fix the issue?

I see unanswered questions to a couple of other threads regarding the missing labeling of X axis in "Export PDF" and "Schedule PDF Delivery" in Splunk dashboard. I'm using Splunk 6.5. why can't the "Export PDF" and "Schedule PDF delivery" show the same X axis labeling as "Print". Do we need to request a feature change? Thanks.

The pdf export seems to have a limit of 25 column values. I'll typically sort the values, then take the " head 25 ", and add a summary table with all the values, or if really needed generate multiple panels, with 1-25 on one, 26-50 on the next, etc.

Because of this I'll make 2 dashboards, one for on screen display, and another to be run automatically for export to pdf and email.

The Splunk PDF generation library has limitations on the width and height of the chart that it can produce. Current design is, when the height or the width of the chart cannot accommodate the ticks, they will be hidden.

However, there is a workaround for this behaviour. Instead of the "Export PDF" option, you could instead use the "Print" option, and in the menu, select the "Save as PDF" to generate the desired file. The PDF generated this way would look the same as the dashboard.

The original question is asking about X axis ticks missing, which does not seem to be a problem with the report width.
