Getting Data In

What is the correct stanza to monitor access logs on my Ubuntu apache web server?

Hi Guy's.

I'm currently looking to monitoring specific access logs on my apache web server - Ubuntu. Currently i just monitor a whole directory but i want to specify specifc logs:

My current:

[monitor:///var/log/apache2]
sourcetype = access_log

New config:

[monitor:///var/log/apache2/access.log*]
sourcetype = access_log

When using the new config it is picking up application.log, sync.log. How can i restrict it to file with the name: access.log*

Cheers,

J.

The new config you specified should only grab /var/log/apache2/access.log*. If you're getting things that don't match that pattern, there is most likely some other input configured that's grabbing them.

To see all of the inputs configured on your forwarder, you can run $SPLUNK_HOME\bin\splunk btool inputs list and then look for any stanzas which match the files you don't want to collect.
