trying to connect oracle db using Splunk db connect apps. But we are getting the below error.
"
Error: Encountered the following error while trying to update: In handler 'localapps': Error while posting to url=/servicesNS/nobody/dbx/dbx/install/java
"
Installed : Java 1.8
Platform: windows7
C:>java -version
java version "1.8.0"

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.0-b70, mixed mode)
When trying to ues the Splunk DB Connect App, to attempt to connect to my Oracle DB in splunk, I was getting the following error.
Error: Encountered the following error while trying to update: In handler ‘localapps’: Error while posting to url=/servicesNS/nobody/dbx/dbx/install/java
I found another person in the Splunk “Answers” forum and nobody answered either of us, so I dug deep into the logs and found the problem.
The problem is, that Splunk is looking in Program Files/Java/Jre7/bin/ for a folder in bin called server containing a a jvm.dll – the server folder nor the jvm.dll did not exist.
After alot of searching (and re installing Java with no avail) I discovered jvm.dll in Program Files/Java/Jre7/bin/client – so what you need to do to fix this random Java error when adding a database in the DB app in Splunk is: copy the client folder in jre7/bin and rename it to server and place it in jre7/bin – make sure it contains jvm.dll and boom your all set. Restart Splunk and everything will work fine.
Check out my blog with my solution posted there also kaloidistech.com/wordpress/?p=73
I am getting this exact error also.
I eneabled SSL, as instructed by the DB Config docs.
I am using C:Program Files (x86)Javajre7 for the Java Home config setting - but no matter what I put there (variations of the above URL, removing the last or adding bin to the end of the URL or removing jre7 from the end) - but nothing works and I keep getting that same error
Any help would be great!!
Thanks
