I'm going through the "create a custom view" tutorial, becasue I didn't have any luck with the custom module, and it tells me to open the developer console view, and navigate to demoview.html. Two questions: what is the developer console view and how do i navigate to demoview.html?
Hi,
this means some of the developer tools your browser offers to you. How you open it depends on your browser. Basically you can use this to debug your webprojects. For example in Chrome you reach it by clicking on the chrome menue button -> tools -> developer tools (In firefox this is similar, i think menue button -> developer tools). I think for the purposes of the tutorial you should then use the console tab.
The part that says "navigate to demoview.html" simply means you first activate the developer tools and then browse to your developed view, just like you would normally do in splunk.

Good comment, we will update the docs to clarify!
Yes, this might be a little bit confusing 🙂
I got it all, thanks for the help. I think calling it a developer console "view" is a poor use of words.... only because Splunk has views.
