VMWare app does not accept license

Hi

I have installed a VMWare license on my licensemaster, and my search head, and indexes are license slaves to that. The license is valid.

Now I have installed the two apps SA-VMW-Licensecheck and SA-Utils according to http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/VMW/latest/Install/Componentreferencetable

But my searchhead keep bugging about "You have no license for Splunk App for VMWare, Contact sales for a license"

Anyone have an idea why ? And maybe a solution to the problem.

Andre,

The workaround for this situation is to remove or disable SA-VMW-Licensecheck from the slaves. For now this is the only workaround, we are working on a better solution to this going forward.

Oh, you meant the slaves, as in license slaves, and not the slaves to the master in the cluster.

I have removed the SA-VMW-Licensecheck from the search head, and will try and see if that helps.

I do not have SA-VMW-Licensecheck on the slaves. So this is not the case here unfourtunately.

Before v3.1 of VMware app, this was a bug if a warning message happened only once a day.

Please check the following things and if this does not help, please file a Support case.

  1. Check "x" of the message and delete it first. (It might be a cached message if it is old one)
  2. Splunk version of the License master and the search head is v.6.0.x or higher
  3. Restart the License Mater and Peers after applying the SAs
  4. Make sure the version of SA-Util is up-to-date. (if you're using NetApp app at the same time, version might be different. So, make sure you are using the VMware app v3.1 SAs.

Again, if this does not help, please file a Support case.

Hi

Thank you for the above. I have tried the different things, and I am running 6.1.1 splunk, with 3.1 vmware, and the SA packaged with that.

So I have not misunderstood anything as far as I can see, I will file a support case on it.

Regards
André
