difference between splunkd and splunkweb

Hi,

Need help to understand difference between splunkd and splunkweb ? What i know is its running in different Ports.

Hi rameshlpatel,

splunkd is the main Splunk process, which spawns other splunkd helper processes which are your searches. splunkweb is the webserver for the Splunk user interface, the one you access in your webbrowser.

You can see the pid's for the processes if your run the following command $SPLUNK_HOME/bin/splunk status
