Hi everybody,
On my OSX (mac mini) server I can connect to splunk (localhost:8000). When I want to connect to the splunk server from a laptop in my home network, I cannot connect. The connection is blocked by the mac mini firewall (because when I turn the firewall off, the connection succeeds). Server and laptops are running Mavericks. Anyone an idea how to tell the firewall to accept these splunk connections?
Thanks in advance!
Go to System Preferences
-> Security & Privacy
-> Firewall
then unlock on the bottom to make changes and click Firewall Options
. Click the +
at the bottom of the list. Now navigate to /Applications/Splunk/bin
and choose python2.7
. Set this to Allow incoming connections
and hit OK.
Cheers.
Jesse

I am having the same issue, and I tried doing the trick.

your assistance is highly appreciated

Hey Jesse - Did this change with 6.2.1? Having the same struggles in OSX 10.9.5 but no luck even when I add all items under $SPLUNK_HOME/bin. Although connection works when the firewall is turned off. Any ideas/experiences to share?
Thanks! That did the trick 😉
