try disabling tcp offloading (TCO) if it is on Linux

ethtool -K eth0 tx off rx off (replace eth0 with ethernet it is bound to)

What browser is it? IE6/7/8/9/10? Chrome? Firefox?

I am going to suggest getting into the browser's debugging tool (F12, usually) to see if JavaScript is indeed the problem. Personally, I like to use Firefox + Firebug. But all newer version of the major browsers have similar tool built-in.

It did not work..clearing cache ...the only pattern i see i am ableto see fields for a 5.0.1 splunk build but not for 5.0.4 build..."something "in the network is chopping of "something" that possibly changed betwen 5.0.1 and 5.0.4

Now /with 2 unknowns dont know what ? release notes on splunk do not seem to show changes between each splunk minor version ..or i may be mistaken ..can someone show some pointers

It can be a javascript caching problem, did you upgraded recently ?
- clear cache on browser
- clear cache on splunkweb server ($SPLUNK_HOME/var/run/splunk/appserver)
- restart splunk and retry

It is a good question. Something is getting blocked, and someone has to know what it is...

Using splunk on your systems is like seeing the stars in 3d.
But, you have to get off planet system first.

So, you get the Splunk page with no login fields?
Is it the same as this post?

Do you get an error?
Is this on the local system?
Which browser are you using?
Is this a new installation?
