how to interplay multiple panels in a dashboard?

Dear Sir/Madam,

Does Splunk currently support the interplay among multiple panels within a dashboard?

A simple example is below: given a pie chart (i.e., one panel) for the top 5 users in the past 24 hours, and a bar chart (i.e., another panel) for the same information, if we move a mouse over a user in one panel, can the other panel also highlight that user in its chart?

I sketched the Splunk tutorial (v5.0.4) and watched the online video (http://www.splunk.com/view/education-videos/SP-CAAAGB6), although I am not able to find the relevant information.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Chenchunqing,

While I don't think putting your mouse over/hovering over a chart element (e.g. pie chart) will affect other dashboard panels, clicking on one component can cause other panels to be populated and changed as a result.

I would recommend downloading the Splunk UI Examples app to see some samples of how this is done. The app says 4.1, but it covers a lot of the basics that are still relevant (Link below)

Also, once you understand that, you may want to look at the Sideview Utils App which extends the functionality (Link below)

Hope this helps 🙂
