I am trying to update the Windows app from v. 4.5 to v. 4.5.2 and when I click update I get the splunk.com login screen but it won't take my splunk.com credentials. It keeps saying unknown username and/or password but I know for a fact they are correct because I tested them by logging into splunk.com in another browser window. What's wrong and how do I fix it? I can't update my apps until I figure this out. I can be contacted at smsd-it "at" nist "dot" gov. Thanks.
There are instructions for uninstalling an app -- basically remove the app directory and any user-specific app directories. You can also choose whether or not to clean out the data, but in your case you would probably want to keep it. I'm not sure what the actual underlying cause of your problems might be...we're kind of piling workaround on top of workaround....
Thank you for your replies. Unfortunately I downloaded the app then went to Manager and clicked install app from file. Then when I selected the downloaded Windows app I get an error "App with this name already exists".
Is there a way I can uninstall it then reinstall it as if I were installing a new app?
As dart says: you can work around this by starting on Splunkbase. If you go to http://splunk-base.splunk.com/apps/22315/splunk-app-for-windows you can install into Splunk directly from the web site.
A workaround is to go grab the file from splunkbase.com, and the upload the app via Manager.
