Dashboards & Visualizations

Can I edit the XML source of my dashboard using the paid Splunk Light edition?

twiggle
Explorer

I have tried both the trial version of Splunk Enterprise and the free version of Splunk Light.

In Light, I cannot edit the XML source code of my dashboard - which is what I want. I am not sure whether this is the same for the paid version of Splunk Light.

I am looking to purchase either Splunk Enterprise or Light.

No, you cannot edit the XML source code for dashboards in the current version of Splunk Light.

Is it available in the enterprise version ?
Is there a way I can backup these dashboards so that I can share it with others(outside org ).?

Hi @sunilsk1,
You can edit the simple XML for your dashboards in Splunk Enterprise. Here is some documentation that provides details:
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.2.5/Viz/OverviewofSimplifiedXML

You can also convert dashboards to PDF, in case this helps with sharing. See this topic in the documentation for more details:
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.2.5/Viz/DashboardPDFs

Hope this helps!

All the best,
@frobinson_splunk

So this means the Splunk light does not have an xml editor for dashboards ?

I suppose there should be a folder within the splunk light setup where the xml gets stored. Can you please this location where i can edit the xml ?
